One of the Worst Pain..
How did that all happen? Come to think of it, I was pretty stupid. I am usually very cynical of such treatments but somehow, yesterday, I took my parents' advice word for word.
Applied those alcoholic ointment for sprains on cottton. Then, secured it with the ankle guard. Since I didn't want it to be stained with the ointment, some seal wrap was place over the cotton first. Now, this wasn't the first time I've use this (though not in this manner!), so I expected it to be 'hot' later on.
After many hours, it started to bug me that this pain is a little off. Stupid me didn't even bother to open and check. Instead, I went to sleep with the 'hot' sensation! An hour later, I woke to excruciating pain which was now screaming for attention!
I was shocked (in my semi-asleep state) to see my skin had become rotten! Swollen, burning and some parts have rotted away. Goodness, gracious me! The shock woke me up, my brain was thinking of all available options.
It was so painful that seeing a doctor, who would most likely poke my ankle, is not an option! So I tried to go back to sleep, hoping the pain would subside but it didn't. I couldn't position my ankle in any way to feel comfortable.
I didn't know what to do except to apply generous amount of antiseptic cream non-stop. It kept melting and I had to re-apply many times. The pain just didn't go away. I know applying heat would hurt even more. However, cold air also didn't help but made it worse.
So I had no choice but to take the painkillers which I've got for my dislocated tailbone (that's another story). After half an hour, my sensors finally stopped sending pain signals to my brain and I was able to fall into deep sleep.
Now, my ankle is still hurting and as if it's not enough, I have burnt/infected skin. Yes, it adds a whole new pattern to the already 'tattooed' left leg of mine (from the roller-balding experience 2 years ago). The feeling of pain is indeed deeply embedded in my soul now.
I think the only other lengthy pain experience I've had was when I extracted my wisdom teeth on local anesthesia. It felt like I was being saw into pieces while being painfully conscious of it. That was more of the fear than pain. Now, this...this has set a new pain record... which I hope / pray would never be upset.

2009 Safra Bay Run
The day before the run, I was so tired that I really wanted to skip the even itself. To stop myself from doing that, I contacted my kaki from work to find out more about the start time. Now, I'm really glad I did that because I've made my 10km PR (Personal Record) of 1:11!! Image that! I nearly missed out on my own PR breaking moment!
For the records, this is my 3rd 10km. First, it was the 2008 GE which I started with 1:14. Then, I walked a good section of the next 10km which was the Passion Run 2009 but managed to score a 1:16. I really regretted walking the last few km that time and it pushed me to strive for my best in the Bay Run.
My cool graphical results
Safra website is amazing!
It actually analyzed my data!

白き優鬱 - the gazette
(The most handsome guy on the top right hand corner is my guy, Uruha!!)
Barks is a great place to view the latest from the Japanese Music scene!
My current favourite from the GazettE latest's album, DIM.
Track 13 - 白き優鬱 (Shiroki Yuutsu)
The guitar playing is more prominent here & since I can't tell if its Aoi or Uruha (unless it's a video), I have to trust this guy, Dave (whose video is attached below) that it's played by Aoi. Uruha usually plays more lead but I guess Dave could've been trying to combine both to play out the essence of the song.
Just like Track 8 - 紅蓮 (Guren), it caught me unexpectedly and my heart just went crazy.
Since there's no video of it yet, this guy's cover of it will have to do for now. It's something I've watched a few times! Amazing! I can at least get a visual of the guitar playing (unlike watching GazettE's videos).
As always, enjoy :)

1 Week Update
I guess I must be too free or am searching for things to distract me from work. I can't believe I'm here updating my blog again. Why? I didn't touch it for 1 year and now I'm like posting a few times a month? Not many to some, but a lot for someone who has left & came back like me.
Well, I guess if you just look at the entries from my Twitter above, it should be more detailed than what I have to say here. It's rather cool. Simple short updates (short as in it has characters limit) if you have no time for long blog entries like me. Erm, correct that I'm very free to update now. hurhur..
Running
Ran my 2.4km on Saturday. Was there with my colleagues who are all younger than me by at least 5 years. Saw an ex-colleague there too. I realised when I started running that I cannot afford to take it slow & easy. All the youngsters were running so fast. I ended being the last 10 of about a 100 runners (guys & gals). However, I may get a bronze or silver for my age group. The wonders of being older now.
Collection of Safra Half-marathon's runner's kit is during the coming long National Day weekend. 10km, think I will just reserve my energy the week before like what I did last year. It's works better I think. Simply lost my interest in runs already. Just going for the sake of going / keeping fit..hurhur..
Music
Hyde (L'Arc-en-Ciel & Vamps) and Uruha (the Gazette) are now on the cabinet of my workplace & on my wall at home. They're my inspiration. Frankly, I've no chance to look at them at work. In fact, the only time I've looked at them is when my colleague commented on Uruha.
That he looks too femine and he looks scary? Disagree, he looks so beautiful it mesmerizes me and makes me forget about the pains of working there. Beauty is meant to be admired. I've gone through the period of admiring macho guys. Now I've gone the other way and can only admire beautiful looking men.
By the way, Uruha looks very manly when he's off work. That is sans make-up and gothic, beautiful outfits. He's rather broad-shouldered, tall (1.77m) and has the typical guy's face (rather ah-beng / gangster-like). You can google 'uruha no makeup' to find out more. Don't be shocked to see the difference. Wait, I might as well link it here:

Can't believe they're both the same person right?! I also could not when I first saw that photo! I really scrutinized each & every part of that photo before I finally confirmed it's him. Then it made me love him more knowing he's rather manly. It's unbelievable that the make-up & outfits (plus good camera angle) can make such huge changes.
Now, I can't resist placing their video here. Well, here's guren 红莲, my favourite at the moment. It's 2008's release which has been added to their latest 2009 album, DIM. I bought that album at $60++ at HMV (which is like the only place that sells loads of Japanese CDs).
There are many other wonderful videos. It's nice to watch because all the band members are so expressive. So another one in my next post. Hope you've enjoyed that! :)

2009 Shape Run + Reflections
1. Sengkang Run (Missed - MC)
2. Passion Run (Completed - 10km)
3. Shape Run -5km (Completed - 5km)
4. Army Half-Marathon-10km (Upcoming)
5. Great Eastern Women's -10Km (Registered)
6. Standard Chartered-10km (KIV)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My 3rd Shape Run. New addition as mentioned in the previous post, my colleagues were there. Somehow I guess I wasn't that prepared for gathering and more so for running. As usual, I ran with only my iShuffle. That meant I had no means of contacting others (realised that a few people were missing) and also no way to capture the moment. Thankfully Team Relak (whose team leader was Supergirl) was armed with their shooting equipments ;p
My 6th marathon and I was unable to feel the excitement most felt. Expected this of myself since I lost interest in things easily. This is more of a routine thing liao. Like goals placed through out the year to keep me running. Expected timing is 35minutes. Not my best 5km and didn't expect it too because I've not exercised for a month.
However, this did jumpstart my running engine and now my body has gone back to the pre-illness days. Inspiration is running high and my usual 2km jog around the neighbourhood was a breeze. I'm rather glad I've not lost it.
This reminded me of something. So it's time to share a little about myself. I used to run alot in primary school. I was in the school team and running events during sports days. So whenever I didn't run for a week or so, I would have nightmares where I couldn't run anymore. I've not had this feeling since then and it's interesting how it's coming back now.
Talking about nightmares, I'm reminded of something. I'm about to celebrate my 1-year anniversary of quitting that bad habit of mine. So guess what, I dreamt that I did that again and I was like cursing myself for wasting a 1-year effort. Maybe it's due to the people I'm idolising who like to do that so much. I'm sub-conciously craving for it. Also, what's sustaining this unbelievable restrain that I have? I've realised it's my work outs. The month that I went without was the month I was most tempted to give it all up. Guess one addiction to replace another.
Conclusion? I'm a General Addict. I simply get addicted to everything, anything. :)

2009 Marathons List
1. Sengkang Run (Missed - MC)
2. Passion Run (Completed - 10km)
3. Shape Run -5km
4. Army Half-Marathon-10km
5. Great Eastern Women's -10Km
6. Standard Chartered-10km
Shape Run - with co-workers (20 of us) & carolyn
Army Half-Marathon - with some co-workers who are regulars
Great Eastern - unconfirmed yet (coz I've not started advertising - in Staff Welfare Com this year)
Standard Chartered - Big event with so many options. So I'm definitely going push for this and hope for a 30% of staff strength.
(However, if I'm heading to Tokyo/Taipei this year end, I'm going to pass the baton to someone else.)
L'Arc-en-Ciel (HYDE)
I've got a new interest recently. This name L'Arc-en-ciel appeared so many times when I was looking at some anime songs. So curious me went to listen to them. At first I found it okay only. Maybe the vocal sounded a little like Uverworld type (that half-nasal, sharp voice) but the music was average.
Then, one day, as I was browsing the music shop, I don't know what the hell compelled me to buy the 'Theatre of Kiss' concert DVD. That was when I got hooked by Laruku (the nick/alternative name of L'Arc-en-ciel).
What happened next, you would ask? Well, I can say the rest is history. However, I can't help mentioning my journey towards this idiol-addiction. If you ever want to start being a fan, perhaps it may come in handy someday. Haha.. I'm kidding myself.
Since I was watching the DVD past 10pm, I couldn't rush to the music store or book store to buy all available items on Laruku. So the next best thing is to searched Wikipedia and google. Wiki is great! They have all the history listed down and in one shot, I knew everything I needed to know about them (well, almost).
Now, I need pictures because I'm so in love with HYDE, the vocalist. So I went to my usual art website DeviantArt to search for it. Another amazing thing happened. I found not only great photos and wallpapers but also many long-time fans who are so willing to help a new fan like me. They answered a lot of questions which I couldn't find online (okay, I admit I'm not that great with seach engines).
The final step to get all the DVDs and CDs available. Boy, was that the toughest thing to do. My first mistake was that I didn't realise that HMV is the greatest music shop in the world (pardon, in Singapore). A shop assistant (not from HMV) was wonderful enough to point it out to me and I'm forever thankful. Yes, HMV's stuffs are bloody expensive but it's the only place to get foreign music stuff which you can't find any where else. They even have a on-line shop where (really) everything on earth is available.
Okay back to the topic. I went crazy when I found all the old DVDs and albums (and also singles)! I would've grabbed everything if the Japan version didn't cost $79 per CD. Repeat CD for $79!!!! No matter how much I love HYDE, I wouldn't spend that amount! I mean I've not reached that stage yet.. (I fear that day may come soon when I would buy it). It's already burning a hole in my pocket as it is.
I worked backwards to the source that started it all. The animes. GTO (song, Driver's High) which I've watched long, long time ago but was never interested in anime songs yet.
Fullmetal Alchemist (song, Ready Steady Go).
Watched that already. Fullmetal Alchemist Movie (Songs, Link and Lost Heaven).
Going to try to watch that because it continues where the series left off. Next, Seirei no Moribito (song, Shine) I watched it and was blown away by it. It's so amazing that I wondered why did I not watch it? Must watch if you like epic animes.
Blood+ (song, Season's Call) has the song HYDE made when he went solo.
Now I'm left with DNA^2(song, Blurry eyes), Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (song, Daybreak's Bell) which I will watch eventually.
Well, I finally bought all the asian version and that concludes my walk towards being a HYDEist, HYDEness?? I don't know. I've seen so many versions of that hee.. yup. HYDE in Laruku. HYDE solo? yes. HYDE vamps? Not so sure yet. That is why I think no matter what HYDE does outside, he should never leave Laruku because the music made by the members is what I like. (HYDE is the lyricist)

search = "sabgian"
Thankfully most of them are from deviant art, and the rest are nothing that would reveal too much about me. Nope, please don't try. I rather you don't.
I'm actually at work now but too depress to do any actual work. I think I've ran out of luck. I've been surviving on my good fortunes all these years and things have always worked out nicely for me one way or another. Recent years have been tough for me as obsticles just didn't resolve as quickly as I expected.
When I related my most recent encounter to co-workers, they all said that fellow doesn't like my face. I'm troubled because I have to face it now that I just have a face that makes people want to hate me. I'm not those sweety, cutesy kind that would make people forget the hateful face. So that doesn't help. It's not me anyway. So even if i do try to be that, it wears me down physically. I do fall sick from the strain of keeping up that look.
The only solution is for it to be internalised. That is hard. I think I need time off from work to reflect and start to see/lead life differently. Meanwhile, I'm thankful I've wonderful co-workers who makes life at work interesting.
Yes, I'm starting to worry about being single for the rest of my life. I'm still pretty sure I'm better off without a partner but yet I wish to have one. Then, I'm soon reaching an age where I would not qualify for SDU/SDS events anymore. I'm going to start trying that place out. I seriously don't like going for events where the main purpose is matchmaking. It's irritating, but I have to open up my world to get to know more guys if I wish for a change.
By the way, I don't know if you remember but I said that I would only try those events if i quit a certain habit of mine. Well, its been one and half months. I'm glad I've survived and I'm proud of myself. There have been times when it's been hard, but certain thoughts kept it in check. I mentioned it in my deviant art journal.
Also, I will write more in my deviant art account than here.

My Bedroom Story
Then you're looking at the WRONG blog!!!
This post has got to do with the recent post in my album blog.
The story behind the surprising changes in my bedroom.
The Root Cause
I think I've mentioned before that I enjoyed sleeping on the futon during my Korea Trip in December last year. On the last day of the trip, we were brought around all the typical local products shops in Korea. As usual, I totally ignored all the lame sales talks. So I would just walk round the shop once before I head out to enjoy the cool air. So at the final shop, I spied the pillow that I used with the futon. I just couldn't resist and bought it. So note this, I've had the pillow with me from December to June (about 6 months).
We were not given any instructions regarding this pillow and didn't think that we needed any. So a little information about this pillow. It's just a small head pillow. Instead of filling up with cotton or sponge, it is filled with bean sprout husk.....
[Story to be continued...stupid thing didn't upload..wasted all my effort typing it..]

2008 Shape Run Official Result
Time: 00:31:00.91 Position: 220
My goal was to improve my timing and improve my positioning from last year. Those were all achieved. However I wasn't in the first 200. So I guess I must consider the fact that there are more runners this year? There were roughly about 4851 in the 5km run.
I don't want to make that my excuse. So aim for next year, top 150and timing to be within 26mins, regardless of the number of runners for 09.
Now waiting for photos on shaperun and nikewomen sites which I will update on this post.
Edit:
Sickening nike didn't take too many of my photos..I had to search for all the other runners before & after me to find 2 extra ones. I believe there are more because I was running with another group. I only caught up with these people that I'm photographed when I was near the finishing line. I'm tired of guessing & searching already.

2008 Great Eastern Women 10K
Well, here's your 2nd chance to experience a run!!
This is the other women 5km fun run.
I must state first that even though the registration fee is about the same ($28/$38), it does NOT come with free magazine subsciption or loads of goodies. Actually, half of the goodies in the ShapeRun were useless to me. Which means it loses out in the Prizes Vs Prices arena.
I think if your goal is to test your body's limits, this is a MUST!
Check it out yourself:
Benefits & Prizes
The down side to it is that it's raining season in this half of the year. So there's like a 50% chance it will rain since the run is on 26 October 2008. They will cancel the run if it doesn't stop raining beyond a certain amount of time.
I wanted to try something more challenging so I've signed up for the 10km run this time.
It was only after I've signed up then I got worried cause it showed '10km competitive'???!!! What?? Nevermind. I will just try and maybe humiliate myself by being the last.
Let me know if you're interested.
Edit:
Currently, one ex-colleague has signed up and one current one may do so too.
Standard Chartered Marathon - 3 guys and 1 gal pending... Anytakers? 10km men/women
Edit 2:
Another colleague signed up. Total 2 friends in Great Eastern 10k.
May trash standard chartered 10k if no takers. Not so confident about 10k to take on 2 in a roll. See how if company subsidising then I may take on for the sake of having a goal to continue my regular running.

2008 Shape Run Result
A quick update before I go back to doing my paper.
Carolyn and I arrived at the Padang very early. About the same time as last year but somehow this year, there were more runners around.
Since I've only had 2 hours of sleep and was working on my paper nonstop the whole of saturday, I trashed the idea of achieving my goals. (Infact I was tempted to skip the run at first.)
My competitive spirit is just too overwhelming. When I saw the ladies running, my legs started to have a mind of its own. I kept my pace through out the race. This run, I didn't stop or slow down. It was running all the way. Whenever I see someone stopping, I would just tell myself not to be like them. Die, die must stay at the same pace all the way.
All my determinations from last year resurfaced. Since I was so stupid to have stopped at the wrong finishing line last year, I told myself that I must make sure that I get it right this time! So I reserved my last bit of energy and dashed the last 300metres.
When I saw the clock '30...', I was pleasantly surprised and couldn't contain my joy. My smile froze for a second when I past the line at '31'min but still I'M SO BLOODY SATISFIED! I've managed to shave 3 mins off my last year record!
Carolyn did very well also! She completed it at 49min! It's amazing cause she wanted to take it easy and wasn't really looking at hitting such a cool ending time! Well done!
Congratulations again, Carolyn! You've completed your First SHape Run!!

Crappy
I've decided I'm not going to downsize or what. The only option that I will even consider is selling the car away. So for now I'm going to observe my car usage and finances for the next few years before I make up my mind.
Right now, there may be another change to my future plans. I've been resigning myself to my fate of getting a flat only when I reach 35. Just recently, my mother suggested that if HDB allows, she can join name with me for a home (YIPEEE!!!). I've been too busy with work. Though I kind of remembered it's not possible, I will still check it out.
My co-worker who stayed in the block of flats next to mine may be buying a new home. I'm eyeing that at the moment! She had knocked down the wall to combine two rooms into one big master bedroom. My ideal concept! So it's perfect because I wouldn't need to add on costs to do the same. And it's next to my parents' home! WONDERFUL!!!!!
I've been inspired by some artists on deviant art to snap more photos. So I've uploaded a few of my old photos in deviantart. All I need is the chance and time to search for inspiration. Think I may need to use my car again to explore those far, isolated places. It saves me a lot of time when I've started my busy work life again. I wish I have more free time.

This Passion = My Pain
Let me share this story from the start. That would be 31 May, I think. That's when I realised that my available credit of about $1k has disappeared. It occured to me that I've wasted good money on stupid expenses. It was time for me to take extreme measures. The biggest sponge of my $$ is of coz my car. The combination of petrol, ERP & parking charges. Thus I was VERY determined not to use it from then on.
My workplace is very near home. I didn't drive even though my co-worker said it doesn't take much petrol to travel such short distances. I actually walked and even carried my notebook all the way there. Seriously, 1km is no joke in the hot sun. I liked the fact that I've exercised and it's a healthier lifestyle!
I took free rides from others, MRT and bus! And you know what? I actually enjoyed it! First of all, I feel like I'm a student again. You know, that carefree feeling! Secondly, I enjoy the scenery & do my things. Finally, I don't have to deal with the stress of maneuvering the car in the traffic. Give me traffic jam anytime! I don't give a damn! Ha!
So since then, I've only driven three times out of practical needs. Nope, my skills/confidence didn't dispel. However, my road rage flared more often and indepth. On those three days, after I have reached home, I would feel constant pain in my chest. I made the conclusion that driving could be the culprit of these pains and might even be the root cause of my migraine. After all, my migraine started about the time I passed my driving test.
Nah, it's either nothing, as in it's only temporary. Or that it has more serious complications which I can't be bothered to find out. I rather die not knowing if that is the case. So no point seeing a doctor who will only refer me for further tests that would waste my time (and test my patience).
Anyway, my mum ridiculed me for the above saying since driving is my passion (taking up more than 60% of my salary), how can it be the cause of my problems? Well, I did mentioned to her that I hate driving now because of all the problems and headaches. It's true. I'm so much happier taking public transport. But a car is needed at times, like when I have to fetch a trolley full of groceries back. Also when I'm going to totally out of the way places (I took 138 to the zoo!) and fetching family around.
For now, I will continue to let my car rot in the carpark. I think I've already saved about $100 since that day. Isn't that cool? I'm even considering the option of downsizing/CNGing/weekending my car.
Ja!

Shoujo Manga Addict
I'm crazy about Vampire Knight in ShojoBeat. So I am eagerly waiting for the June issue to reach Singapore (heard it's already out in US). Therefore I went Kinokuniya to check, only to be disappointed. So out of desperation, I bravely ventured into the Japanese section of the book store. All these while I didn't dare to because that section is always filled with Japaneses and I was too shy to intrude on their territory. Also I was afraid that if I start looking someone would talk to me in Jap.
Anyway, I quickly looked at the Manga Magazines shelve and WOW! They have so many different types of colourful, beautifully drawn manga! *Drooling* *Slurps back saliva* Candy store - phenomenon again. I was awe-strucked by the volume of each magazine. It has the average thickness of 3cm and area of an A4 size paper. That's simply humongous! This addict was tempted to buy all the available love comics. Luckily my diminishing credit limit won the usual buying battle (my bank account is probably saluting that). I only bought one miserable magazine which happened to be the cheapest one.
This is an expensive hobby.

Exercising Complains
I was too ambitious also. I went jogging last night, thinking that the workout would help ease the aches. Instead it added on more strain to the already-torn muscle tissues. So, even though I was very inspired to run or play badminton at my workplace today, I did the smart thing (finally) by resting my body.
My body feels like it's swollen all over. My clothes even feel tighter. Is it cause of the expanded muscles or cause I'm simply too fat! Well, I will never know.
Anyway, this is the time to start my regular runs till the shape run event. Not training lah, just maintaining my stamina. I know I can never do long runs anyway. The longest I've ran on my own is around 1.5km. It's just keeping my body used to running so that I won't suffer on the actual day.
I'm super keen to go wakeboarding again. I'm just afraid of over-exerting my body cause I'm not that young anymore. But I'm craving for it. Haiz. Kakis kakis..??
Live Concerts? NLB@esplanade
I've been searching around the shops like mad for Japanese live concerts as mentioned before in my previous post. Like I said, not many available and they're either not the ones I want or they're too expensive (no lah, I'm too stingy to spend the $$$). So when I searched the NLB catalog and found some, I was so excited. So I went today & managed to find a few to borrow!
Sadly, I realised not all the singers give good live performances (not like Ken Hirai's anway). Got this Tackey & Tsubasa 2004 Spring Concert and was so disappointed. First of all, they're teen pop stars (maybe not so teeny anymore). I was hoping to see solid rocking performance, yet turned out they're so lacking in energy. Since they're singing those super fast pop songs, I guess it must be tiring. Cause majority of their songs are not sung live! Well, Tsubasa has the kind of voice I like but he's like so uninterested in performing. When they did sing live, it's nothing impressive at all. Maybe they're just lacking in confidence.
Then I watched BoA's Live tour 2004 Love & Honesty and it gave me a bit more hope that there are some good ones out there. She was full of confidence and gave her best. Smiles and stares unwavering at the audience. Guess the eye contact makes a lot of difference. At least, I enjoyed it much more than the Tackey & Tsubasa's one. Again, guess it's due to the energy-sucking dance steps, quite a number of songs were lip-sync. However, those live songs were done rather well, cause she has good control of her voice and it's powerful enough to be projected well.
So now, I'm left with the Ayumi Hamasaki's one. Will update again. Since she's a really experienced performer, I except it to be better than the previous two. But I've seen her live performance of 'Dream' on 'Music Station' before and she went off key on the high notes. Erm.. well maybe I should just lower down my standard.
I'm sure however, I can count on a few Japanese artists to do well. The MTV unplugged one by Utada Hikaru will definitely be good (even though her voice a bit soft at times). Also, Namie Amuro's Live is good because of her dance steps (though she's another cool faced performer) and she's singing live majority of the times. Amazing stamina for a singer! Then I can always trust Ken Hirai to give the best of best live songs!
Yup all those borrowed from the NLB@esplanade. I think I've borrowed enough today to make up for that $21 premium membership fee :)
